Taipei, Taiwan and Eindhoven, The Netherlands – January 06, 2016 – NexGuard, a Civolution company and the leading provider of forensic watermarking technology and solutions, partnered with ALi to announce the integration of NexGuard forensic watermarking in the lineup of ALi set-top box chipsets. The collaboration provides compliance with the MovieLabs security specifications and enables protection of high value content with forensic watermarking in addition to CAS and DRM systems.

For premium content delivered to the set-top box, NexGuard Technology enables each device to embed a unique, invisible identifier or watermark to any video being played. The watermark remains with the content, regardless of how it might be transcoded, resized, downscaled or otherwise altered for distribution. Robust content protection thereby carries on even after playback begins by the implementation of a means to trace illicit re-distribution back to a specific user account.

“NexGuard forensic watermarking is designed to meet the full array of evolving security challenges that digital media industries face,” said Jean-Philippe Plantevin, SVP Products and Solutions, NexGuard. “This integration provides ALi and its customers with MovieLabs forensic watermarking compliance and the only realistic defence against illicit re-distribution of linear content such as sport events and the illicit file-sharing of premium on-demand content, the greatest security threats facing the content industry today.”

“As a global leader in STB technology, ALi makes every effort to ensure our chipset offerings meet the Pay-TV ecosystem’s most demanding security requirements,” said Daniel Huang, CEO of ALi Corporation. “Adding to a host of robust protection mechanisms with the NexGuard watermarking solution under TEE already enabled on our chipsets, ALi’s latest UHD solutions integrating hardwired NexGuard technology provide a powerful arsenal for rights owners and service providers in the battle against piracy of valuable entertainment content.”

Visitors to CES 2016 are welcome to ALi’s suite, East Tower #579 at Westgate Hotel, for more information on NexGuard-enabled ALi STB chipsets.
